Why It Matters. The ability to vote is a great privilege that many wish they could proudly say they have. We should never take that privilege for granted.
Young people make up the future of our country, and the results of elections have just as much of an impact if not more on us. However, according to NPR, only 46% of 18-29 year-olds voted in the 2016 elections, compared to 71% of those above 65 that turned out to the polls. With this great disparity, the voices of young people won’t be heard in the world of politics. We are the future of this country, so the government needs to reflect what we want just as much as any generation. |
